Calcium carbonate and Dolomite have for long been recognised as a useful addition to soil in agriculture. Our MEL AGRICLIME and DOLOMEL products for agriculture come in two types; agricultural lime and dolomitic lime. These are useful in stabilising soil acidity. This is important because the yield in crops is highly dependent on having optimum levels of PH in the soil.
The calcium and magnesium present in both our dolomitic and calcific limes add nutrients to the soil. Calcium and magnesium are macronutrients acting to reduce stunting and blossom end rots in plants. The addition of these therefore,will minimise on the amount of fertilizer required.
MEL AGRICLIME and DOLOMEL also will improve soil structure as both magnesium and calcium play a significant role in soil structure. Their addition to soil promotes conditions favourable for the uptake of other soil nutrients by plants, promoting nutrient rich soil.
