Calcium Carbonate is used in a wide variety of rubber applications as a functional extender in rubber compounding. Substantial amounts of Kaolin are used for filling rubber to improve its mechanical strength and resistance to abrasion. It is for this very purpose that the clay that is used must be extremely pure and of a very fine grain. At MEL, we supply some of the best yellow Kaolin in the region Our Kaolin is used widely in the manufacture of soles for shoes and heels, rubber mats and floor tiles, conveyor belts and rubber tyres in the form of partially calcined clay called meta-kaolin. Fully calcined clay is also available for use in the manufacture of wires and cables for its good di-electric and water resistance properties. Kaolin is far superior to other fillers for rubber applications.
