Paper manufacture
Ground calcium carbonate and Kaolin are used extensively as filler materials in wood free alkaline paper making process. Our MELWIT ultrafine grades are a cheaper alternative to bleached wood pulp. The alkaline nature of these products helps in reducing the acidity of the paper thus improving on durability of printed materials.
Optical properties such as opacity, brightness and paper colour are also greatly enhanced with the use of our products. These unique characteristics of our ground calcium carbonate allows the production of smooth, bright and opaque paper.
The use of our KAOMEL brand of Kaolin in paper manufacture, lowers foaming in the manufacturing process. It also improves greatly on the opacity and printability of the paper.
